Lighting columns
Composite materials are engineered materials made of two or more constituent materials joined together in order to create a new “better” material. Perfect examples of this kind of synergy are plaster cardboard slabs, where joining two delicate materials, plaster and cardboard, resulted in getting a product characterized by high resistance parameters which is used in the construction industry all around the world. Polymer composite is a material made from polyester raisins, fiberglass and fiber mats joined together in order to obtain a material with high strength parameters, which can be used in the production of lighting columns.

PRODUCTION – LOW CO2 EMISSION
The effect of CO2 on climate during the production and exploitation of composite lighting columns:
The production of composite poles is eco-friendly because the emission of CO2 is very low and composite poles get 100% recycled. Composite is the most profitable material because of its parameters, characteristics, recyclability and the emission of CO2. Composite is more eco-friendly that other materials because of its operational term, lower energy intensity during reprocessing and recycling.
The production of composite uses less energy than the production of metals because composite weights less.
The standard colours of composite lighting columns are RAL 7032, RAL 7042, RAL 6005 and RAL 7021. Different colours according to RAL palette are available at additional cost.
It is also possible to produce multicoloured lighting columns.
High quality raw materials used for the production ensure UV resistance.
With the smooth surface it is easy to remove dirt, glue or Scotch tape which is used for hanging posters and advertisements.
Lighting columns can be cleaned effectively and fast with cleaning agents made by Alumast.
Additionally, the surface of the columns can be covered with a silicon coating made with nanotechnology which strongly protects the columns against smudges of dirt and glue.
Composite lighting columns do not corrode.
Composite lighting columns mounted in the ground do not have any metal elements which could corrode.
Therefore, they are resistant to:
- salt on the roads and other road cleaning agents
- traffic pollution
- animal waste
Composite access door does not have any scrap value- this eliminates the possibilities of theft, vandalism and costs of additional service.
Complete composite lighting columns limit the access to cable joints.
Resistant to negative external factors.
Composite material is an insulator. Composite lighting column mounted in the ground does not have any metal elements, which require earthing.
There is no need for galvanic isolation between the composite lighting column mounted in the ground and active conductor, surge or fire protection elements. Even if the wire insulation is damaged, the dangerous voltage will not appear.
Composite column slightly absorbs energy during a collision – after the collision the vehicle
continues to ride with a reduced speed. Researches show that the value of ASI indicator (indicator of acceleration rate – according to PN-EN 1317 norm) is five times lower than the value by which the effects of the collision are dangerous or fatal for people being in a vehicle.
The multilayered composite structure perfectly suppress the vibrations coming from the road traffic, trams and train tractions. It affects the liveliness of gas-discharge lamps and ignition systems applied in the luminaries.
Universal aluminium sleeve diam. 60, installed at the top of pole, allows the assembly of typical luminaries
with a bracket for vertical assembly. Using the arm or adjustable bracket it is possible to assembly typical
luminaries with a bracket for side installation. Thanks to even 60% bigger internal diameter all the inspection works
inside the composite column are performed much faster and more precisely.
With lightweight composite columns mounted in the ground there is no need for heavy foundation during an installation. Moreover, it simplifies the transport, installation and disassembly (in case of collision). It reduces considerably the costs of investment and maintenance.
9m composite lighting column mounted in the ground weights only 59kg.
LOWER INSTALLATION COSTS FOR COLUMNS MOUNTED IN THE GROUND – no base, no foundation
FASTER INSTALLATION – 9m column mounted in the ground weights only 59kg
LOWER TRANSPORT AND INSTALLATION COSTS – no need for heavy foundation
EASIER REINSTALLATION – in need of replacement of composite lighting column i.e. in case of a damaged pole due to a collision or modernization of street lighting.
favourable opinions of assemblers; convenient and functional inspection hole
Composite lighting column is the basis product of Alumast SA which has been produced since 2008. Alumast is the first company in this part of Europe which ran its own production plant for such solutions. Composite poles comply with the highest standards concerning passive safety norms and are produced accordant to the EN 40-7 standard. Composite poles are light, easy to transport, and very strong. They do not conduct electricity so they are perfect for energy or railway industry.
