Composite lighting columns
Composite materials are engineered materials made of two or more constituent materials joined together in order to create a new “better” material. Perfect examples of this kind of synergy are plaster cardboard slabs, where joining two delicate materials, plaster and cardboard, resulted in getting a product characterized by high resistance parameters which is used in the construction industry all around the world. Polymer composite is a material made from polyester raisins, fiberglass and fiber mats joined together in order to obtain a material with high strength parameters, which can be used in the production of lighting columns.

PRODUCTION – LOW CO2 EMISSION
The effect of CO2 on climate during the production and exploitation of fiberglass flagpoles:
The production of fiberglass flagpoles is eco-friendly because the emission of CO2 is very low and the fiberglass flagpole gets 100% recycled. Composite is the most profitable material because of its parameters, characteristics, recyclability and the emission of CO2. Composite is more eco-friendly that other materials because of its operational term, lower energy intensity during reprocessing and recycling.
The production of composite uses less energy that the production of metals because composite weights less.
The standard colours of composite lighting columns are RAL 7032, RAL 7035, RAL 6005. Different colours according to RAL palette are available at additional cost.
It is also possible to produce multicoloured lighting columns.
High quality raw materials used for the production ensure UV resistance.
With the smooth surface it is easy to remove dirt, glue or Scotch tape which is used for hanging posters and advertisements.
Lighting columns can be cleaned effectively and fast using cleaning agents made by Alumast.
Additionally, the surface of the columns can be covered with a silicon coating made with nanotechnology which strongly protects the columns against smudges of dirt and glue.
Composite lighting columns do not corrode.
Composite lighting columns mounted in the ground do not have any metal elements which could corrode.
Therefore, they are resistant to:
- salt on the roads and other road cleaning agents
- traffic pollution
- animal contamination
Composite access door does not have any scrap value- so this eliminates the possibilities of being stolen, vandalism and the costs of service.
Complete composite lighting columns limit the access to cable joints.
Resistant to negative external factors.
Composite material is an insulator. Composite lighting column mounted in the ground does not have any metal elements, which require earthing.
There is no need for galvanic isolation between the composite lighting column mounted in the ground and active conductor, surge or fire protection elements. Even if the wire insulation is damaged, the dangerous voltage will not appear.
The composite column slightly absorbs the energy during a collision – after the collision the vehicle
continues to ride with a reduced speed. The researches show that the value of ASI indicator (indicator of acceleration rate – according to PN-EN 1317 norm) is five times lower than the value by which the effects of the collision are dangerous or fatal for people being in a vehicle.
The multilayered composite structure perfectly suppress the vibrations coming from the road traffic and coming from trams and train tractions. It affects the liveliness of gas-discharge lamps and ignition systems applied in the luminaries.
Universal aluminium sleeve fi 60, installed at the top of pole, allows the assembly of typical luminaries
with the bracket for vertical assembly. Using the arm or adjustable bracket it is possible to assembly typical
luminaries with a bracket for side installation. Thanks to even 60% bigger internal diameter all the inspection works
inside the composite column are performed much faster and more precisely.
The use of the light composite columns mounted in the ground allows to eliminate heavy foundation during an installation. Moreover, it simplifies the transport, installation and disassembly (in case of collision). It reduces considerably the costs of investment and of exploitation
9m composite lighting column mounted in the ground weights only 59kg.
LOWER INSTALLATION COSTS FOR COLUMNS MOUNTED IN THE GROUND – no base and foundation
FASTER INSTALLATION – 9m column mounted in the ground weights only 59kg
LOWER TRANSPORT AND INSTALLATION COSTS – no need for heavy foundation
EASIER REINSTALLATION – in need of replacement of composite lighting column i.e. in case of a damaged pole due to a collision or modernization of street lighting.
The autonomous lamp and an innovative design of the luminaire with LED light source is a proprietary solution of Alumast S.A as well as the way of mounting on the pole the solar panel, wind turbine, battery and controller. The inception of these solutions is the result of the work of group of designers whose goal was not only to make it function and to find technical solutions, but also to create a new, aesthetic quality. For a long time Alumast S.A. has put a special emphasis on balancing the high quality products with their appearance and design.
RENEWABLE ENERGY
HIGH AESTETHICS
POSSIBLE TO MODIFY
WIDE RANGE OF COLOURS
EASY INSTALLATION IN HARD TO REACH PLACES
The versatility of the autonomous lamp is based on the fact that it can operate in various power supply. On request, the lamp can be equipped not only with the solar panel but also with wind turbine. Also, the lamp can be equipped with an emergency power systems or power generator in case of autonomous systems maintenance.
The enclosure is made of polymer composites. It not only meets the aesthetics features of the lamp, giving an unusual appearance, but it can also serve as an enclosure for batteries, controllers and other components. Placing the equipment in the housing provides an excellent protection against theft and devastation. The way of mounting the dome, where the photovoltaic cells and wind turbine are installed, allows to rotate it in accordance with the demand for solar energy or wind power. This enclosure is constructed in a way that the water does not get inside, however, the design allows constant ventilation of the equipment installed inside.
LEDAL luminaire used in the construction of the autonomous lamp is also the proprietary solution of Alumast S.A. It is made of aluminium and composites. This luminaire is simple, but its modern design with a LED light source meets the high requirements for outdoor lighting. The light source complies with IP65 and is very easy to install, maintain, and service. The customer can order luminaires in various arrangement of reflectors; it allows to direct the light beam to a place which should be illuminated (e.g. pedestrian crossing). The luminaire is available in systems 6W, 10W, 13W, 17W, or multiples of these. The basic module’s power is 17W. Remember! The universal design of the lamp and brackets allow to install any luminaire powered by renewable.
The construction of brackets for this luminaire, made of composites, allows you to install one or two luminaires with different illumination angle, dependent on the area that should be illuminated. There is also a possibility of installing a lighting system with three or four light sources. These brackets can be the ones proposed by Alumast or simple – chosen by the customer according to his requirements.
The lighting column is made of polyester and glass reinforced with carbon fiber. It is available in two versions: for ready foundation or mounted in the ground. Composite lighting columns are lightweight, easy to transport and assembly, with a high passive safety. The autonomous lamp is based on composite lighting columns!
The power of the equipment used in the autonomous lamp of Alumast S.A. depends on your needs! This product is designed according to customer’s requirements and the weather conditions in the given area. In the proposed solution, all of the components of this autonomous system are hidden in the enclosure made of composites, which is located a few meters above the ground. This means that such items are not available to the public and cannot be stolen or devastated. Customers may, however, choose other solutions such as installing this equipment, regulators in a special housing that will be buried in the ground near the lighting column. Certain elements of the autonomous lamp are easy to self install. To have the access to hidden elements in the housing you just need to open the lid, which is the photovoltaic panel.
Particular accessories change the function of the autonomous lamp
The construction of the composite column with an autonomous system in a composite housing is a universal product that can be used not only in the production of autonomous LEDAL lamps, but can also provide the infrastructure equipment not directly related to lighting such as monitoring, meteorological stations, road signs, water, gas, or heat supply, requiring remote control and monitoring.
Autonomous lamp can illuminate a large area because the pole can be equipped with one, two, three or even four brackets. Our brackets can part the luminaires in different directions. Thanks to the complete autonomy of power system the lamp can be installed in any place. Also, the pole can be equipped with motion sensor which is even more economical.
The autonomous lamp can be mounted in three different ways:
- on ready foundation mounted in the ground
- on a portable foundation (e.g. concrete foundation or in a basket of stones) – this solution helps
you to avoid the procedure of obtaining building permits.
Another advantage is the mobility of this construction and the possibility of its displacement at any time.
- mounted in the ground – the most economical solution!
